Preliminary figures are pointing to a rough 25 per cent hike in numbers at advance polls over the Easter long-weekend for the 2025 federal election, with an estimated 7.3 million people casting ballots.
Elections Canada released its advance polls turnout estimate Tuesday, April 22, 2025, ahead of the April 28 general election.
Advance polls opened Friday, April 18 and continued through to Monday, April 21, offering electors a chance to vote early from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. over the course of the four days.
According to preliminary figures, 7.3 million electors voted at the advanced polls, representing a 25 per cent increase from the 5.8 million electors who voted in advance polls in the 2021 general election, said Elections Canada, in a recent release.
However, officials also noted that these figures are still an estimate, and that some polls may have not been reported yet.
A breakdown for all electoral districts is also being calculated and will soon be available via the Elections Canada website, said officials.
