Residents in parts of upper downtown Port Hope will experience a temporary water outage tomorrow as part of ongoing construction work.
The Town says water will be shut off on Wednesday, April 23 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. as part of the Walton Street Reconstruction project. The outage will affect properties on Walton Street (between Pine and Thomas), Pine Street (from Bedford to Gifford), Gifford Street (between Thomas and Pine), and surrounding streets including Ross, Hill South and Hagerman.
Crews will be installing a second connection point for the temporary water supply, which is expected to improve service for the rest of the reconstruction period. Workers will also be isolating and shutting down an older section of the water main so it can be safely taken out of use.
According to the Town, hand-delivered notices have already been distributed to affected homes and businesses. An outage map is also available to help residents confirm if their building is included in the shutdown.
If poor weather delays the work, the outage will be rescheduled for Thursday, April 24 during the same hours.
Anyone with questions or concerns is encouraged to reach out to the project team at 905-376-1481 or by email.
The Walton Street Reconstruction is part of a broader infrastructure upgrade aimed at modernising water and road services in Port Hope’s historic downtown core.
