A Courtice resident has become the ninth person charged in connection with a sweeping multi-jurisdictional investigation known as Project Amalie.
On April 28, 2025, a 27-year-old from Courtice was arrested on an outstanding warrant and is now facing multiple serious charges. Police say the charges include possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine and other Schedule I substances, as well as possession of proceeds of crime over $5,000.
The accused is also charged with several firearms-related offences, including unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm, careless storage of a firearm, and possession of a prohibited device or ammunition.
The individual was held for a bail hearing and has since been remanded into custody.
This arrest marks the latest development in Project Amalie, an ongoing joint investigation by several Ontario police services targeting illegal drug and firearms trafficking in Northumberland and surrounding regions.
According to Cobourg Police, the investigation remains active, and further arrests may be possible.
