Northumberland Paramedics are inviting the community to celebrate Paramedic Services Week at a special event on Saturday, May 24, at the Cobourg Farmers Market.
Taking place at Rotary Harbourfront Park, the event runs during market hours and offers fun and learning for all ages.
This year’s Paramedic Services Week theme is “We Care. For Everyone,” which highlights how paramedics support people at every stage of life – from emergency response to community care.
Families can tour an ambulance, meet local paramedics, and learn about the many ways they contribute to health and safety in Northumberland County. Children are encouraged to bring their stuffed animals for a visit to the teddy bear clinic, where the Northumberland Teddy Bear Response Team will walk them through a gentle medical check-up designed to ease fears and build trust.
EarlyON Child and Family Centres will also be on site with interactive games and activities for young children.
Attendees can meet Ivy Joules, the paramedic therapy dog, and Terry the Traumasaurus, the Northumberland Paramedics mascot, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.
“Paramedic Services Week is a time to celebrate the dedication and heart that our paramedics bring to their work every day,” said Susan Brown, Chief of Northumberland Paramedics. “Whether responding to emergencies or helping children learn through play, our team is committed to helping everyone.”
The event offers a chance to recognise the skill and compassion of Northumberland’s paramedics and to learn more about the essential roles they play in the community.
