Fleming College’s Academic Upgrading program has found a new home at the Venture13 Innovation and Entrepreneurship Centre, offering adult learners a brighter and more connected learning environment.
Now based at 739 D’Arcy Street in Cobourg, the program provides free, flexible education in English, math, science, and computer literacy to help students prepare for college, apprenticeships, or employment. The new space includes modern amenities, free parking, and is located on a bus route, making it easily accessible for students.
“Our Work and Academic Upgrading courses in Northumberland County are now better positioned to serve the community,” said Kate McIntosh, Vice President of Student Experience at Fleming College. “Venture13 strengthens ties with local businesses, offering learners the chance to build skills and explore career paths.”
Students also benefit from shared common areas like Venture13’s communal kitchen, where they can connect with other students and professionals. This setup supports informal networking and confidence-building in a real-world setting.
Cobourg Mayor Lucas Cleveland welcomed the move, saying the program fits perfectly with Venture13’s goal of fostering education and opportunity for both youth and adults in the community.
Fleming College serves more than 6,800 full-time and 10,000 part-time students across campuses in Peterborough, Lindsay, Haliburton, and Cobourg.
