It was another busy weekend for Northumberland OPP with charges laid around impaired driving, speeding, public intoxication, and more.
Here’s your latest OPP rundown:
TRAFFIC STOP FOR SPEEDING LEADS TO IMPAIRED DRIVING CHARGES:
Impaired driving charges have been laid after speed enforcement efforts in the County Road 25 area in the Township of Cramahe on Sunday, July 27, 2025.
Police said at about 7:55 p.m. officers allegedly clocked a pick-up truck at 128 km/h in an 80 zone. A subsequent traffic stop resulted in police initiating an impaired driving investigation and the individual being taken into custody and transported to a nearby detachment for further testing, reported OPP.
As a result of the investigation, police said a 42-year-old Belle River Lakeshore woman was charged with operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus,) operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs, speeding, and failure to surrender an insurance card.
In addition to being dished out a future court date in September, the accused had their licence suspended for 90 days and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
Northumberland OPP continues to ask citizens to report suspected impaired driving by calling 911 and urges all motorists to plan ahead before getting behind the wheel.
CHARGES LAID AFTER RIDE EFFORTS:
On Monday, July 28, shortly before 3:30 a.m., police were conducting a RIDE checkpoint on County Road 30 in the Municipality of Trent Hills.
A stop of a passenger vehicle resulted in charges related to an obstructed plate and driving with cannabis readily available for a 52-year-old Trent Hills man, said police.
UNWANTED PERSONS CALL:
On Sunday night, at about 10:15 p.m., officers said they responded to a complaint about an unwanted person at a commercial premises in the Grand Road Trent Hills area.
The individual was taken into custody and found to be wanted by a neighbouring police service on an outstanding warrant, said police.
Before being transferred to that service, OPP said the 28-year-old man with no fixed address was charged with entering a premises when entry prohibited.
PUBLIC INTOXICATION:
Last Thursday, July 24, at about 7 p.m., officers responded to a report of an individual causing a disturbance on Inkerman Street in Campbellford.
Police allege when they found the man he was intoxicated.
The 21-year-old Trent Hills man was taken into custody and charged with being intoxicated in a public place.
None of the charges in the above unrelated incidents have been proven in court.
