A 20-year-old Cobourg man is facing multiple charges after police investigated reports of suspicious activity in the Fairbanks Road area.
According to Cobourg police, the investigation began on July 30, 2025, after it was reported that an individual had attempted to enter several vehicles overnight. One vehicle was successfully entered and approximately $800 worth of personal property was stolen.
Police conducted a canvass of the area and obtained surveillance video that helped identify a suspect.
On Sunday, August 3, officers on patrol downtown Cobourg spotted the suspect. After a brief foot pursuit, the man was taken into custody.
As a result, the 20-year-old Cobourg resident has been charged with theft under $5,000, possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, two counts of trespass by night, and four counts of breach of probation.
The Cobourg Police Service encourages residents to report suspicious activity and reminds the public to lock their vehicles and secure valuables out of sight.
