Cobourg Police Service has released a two-week update on the Safer Streets Cobourg program, showing continued efforts to improve community safety and support downtown security.
Between July 14 and July 27, officers responded to 868 calls for service, including 33 trespass-related incidents, and completed 48 foot patrols and 26 property checks. During this time, police made 13 arrests related to warrants and bail compliance, two drug possession arrests, and issued one Liquor License Control Act charge.
The Trespass Authority Agent Program continues to be promoted. This allows police to enforce the Trespass to Property Act on behalf of property owners, helping business owners and landlords maintain safety when they’re not on-site.
Other ongoing tools available to residents and businesses include:
The Community Camera Registry, which helps police locate surveillance footage near incidents
Free CPTED audits (Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design) to improve property safety
Online Reporting of non-emergency crimes such as mischief, traffic concerns, or property loss
The Bicycle Registry, which helps police return stolen bikes to rightful owners
Cobourg Police encourage the public to make use of these programs to support a safer and more connected community. For more information, or to sign up for any of the above programs, visit cobourgpoliceservice.com.
A full breakdown of police activity is available in the quarterly operational reports presented to the Cobourg Police Services Board and posted online.
