Cobourg Police are investigating an attempted vehicle theft that occurred in the Park Lane and Park Street area sometime overnight between August 17 and 18.
Police say the vehicle’s interior was damaged during the incident, though the theft was not successful. Officers are continuing to gather information and are asking for public assistance.
Anyone who may have seen suspicious activity in the area, or who has dashcam or home security camera footage, is urged to come forward. Police say even small details may help move the investigation forward.
Those with information can contact the Cobourg Police Service at 905-372-6821. Tips can also be left anonymously through Crime Stoppers by calling 1-800-222-TIPS or by visiting stopcrimehere.ca. Information provided through Crime Stoppers may qualify for a cash reward.
Police are reminding residents to keep vehicles locked, avoid leaving valuables inside, and to report suspicious activity promptly. They say community awareness and vigilance play a key role in preventing property crime.
