A Whitby man has been charged after a single-vehicle crash in Brighton Friday morning, says Northumberland OPP.
Earlier Friday, Aug. 22, 2025, police reported no injuries associated with the crash on County Road 30. Police said the stretch near Old Wooler Road had to be shut down briefly after a trailer unit rolled, and the closure was needed for cleanup.
In an update Friday afternoon, OPP said the investigation has resulted in a 26-year-old Whitby man charged with insecure load – commercial motor vehicle.
“The collision occurred when the vehicle’s load shifted and rolled off the trailer, prompting a temporary road closure,” said police, in their afternoon update, while reminding all drivers to secure all loads properly to prevent collisions and keep roads safe.
