Cobourg Police say a 36-year-old man is facing charges after a reported assault on Monday morning.
On August 25, 2025, at approximately 11:20 a.m., officers were called to the area of 1st Street and Albert Street following a report that an individual had been sprayed with pepper spray. Police say they located the victim, who had injuries consistent with being exposed to a noxious substance.
Investigators were provided with the identity of the suspect and conducted a canvass of the area to locate him.
As a result, a 36-year-old Cobourg man was arrested and charged with assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, administering a noxious substance, and three counts of failing to comply with probation.
The accused was held for a bail hearing and has since been remanded into custody.
Police say the investigation remains ongoing.

Officials say on Monday, August 25, Cobourg Police attended an ambulance assist where two individuals were experiencing injuries consistent with noxious exposure. Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding this call and whether there is a link to any other incidents.
