The Municipality of Port Hope is inviting residents to participate in a series of in-person drop-in sessions for the Ward Boundary and Council Composition Review.
This first round of engagement is designed to give the community multiple opportunities to provide feedback on how ward boundaries are drawn and how council representation could look in the future, explained the municipality.
Upcoming sessions include Wednesday, Sept. 17 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Canton Community Hub, Thursday, Sept. 18 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Port Hope Public Library, and Thursday, Sept. 18 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Jack Burger Sports Complex.
At each session, residents will be able to meet directly with the consultants leading the review, ask questions and explore detailed information boards that explain the purpose of the review, options under consideration, and how changes could affect representation on council. Key factors in the process include population size, geography, community history, local interests and minority representation.
This is the first stage of a broader consultation and residents will have another chance to provide comments on any recommended options later in the process. For those who prefer to share their feedback online, an electronic survey is also available.
More information about the project, the in-person sessions, and the online survey can be found on the municipality’s engagement project page.
