Cobourg has officially unveiled its new D’Arcy Elevated Tank and Booster Pumping Station, a $3.6 million project designed to strengthen the town’s water infrastructure and support future growth.
The facility, located at 700 D’Arcy Street near the Cobourg Community Centre, includes a 5,000 cubic metre water storage tank, a three-pump booster station, and dedicated spaces for electrical, chemical, and telecommunications operations.
The project received over $1.9 million in federal funding and $1.6 million from Ontario through the Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program’s Green Infrastructure Stream, which promotes clean water, climate resilience, and economic growth. Officials say the new infrastructure enhances reliability and efficiency, addresses capacity limitations in the town’s Drinking Water System, and ensures safe, dependable water service for residents now and in the future.
Lakefront Utility Services highlighted the facility’s innovative design, which consolidates essential services in a single, secure structure while remaining capable of independent operation. The tank also features decorative exterior lighting, allowing the community to commemorate special occasions.
Officials say the Elevated Tank and Booster Pumping Station support the town’s long-term development, sustainability, and growth objectives. By strengthening water system capacity and operational efficiency, Cobourg is investing in infrastructure that safeguards public health and provides a foundation for continued community prosperity.
