The Town of Cobourg has appointed Lacricia Turner as its new Director of Community Services, bringing more than two decades of experience in recreation, leisure, facility operations and community programming to the municipality.
Turner begins the role on November 24 and joins Cobourg after serving in multiple senior positions with the City of Kingston, most recently as Director of Recreation and Leisure Services.
Town officials say Turner’s leadership will be instrumental as Cobourg continues developing its new Parks and Recreation Master Plan, a major initiative aimed at improving community spaces, programs and long-term planning. Chief Administrative Officer Tracey Vaughan said the Town is pleased to welcome Turner and looks forward to the expertise she will bring to the project and the broader Community Services portfolio.
Turner has a wide-ranging background that includes recreation program development, asset management, special events, parks and sports field operations, community partnerships, and waterfront and marina planning. She is also familiar with Cobourg’s recreation facilities, having spent time in the community with her family and frequently visiting the Cobourg Community Centre.
In a statement, Turner said she is honoured to step into the role and is eager to help enhance the programs and spaces that make Cobourg a vibrant place to live and visit. She added that she looks forward to collaborating with residents, staff and community partners to build on the progress already underway.
As Director of Community Services, Turner will work closely with Council, the Senior Leadership Team, community volunteers and the Parks and Recreation Master Plan Task Force to deliver consistent and innovative recreation services that meet the needs of Cobourg’s growing community.
