Cobourg police say a 33-year-old Port Hope woman has been arrested and charged after a purse and vehicle were reportedly stolen from a business in the north end of Cobourg on Monday morning.
Police say they responded around 10:30 a.m. to a location near Elgin Street and Burnham Street after receiving the theft complaint. Roughly 90 minutes later, around 12:10 p.m., officers located the stolen vehicle and the suspect.
Following the investigation, police charged the woman with theft of a motor vehicle, break and enter with intent to commit an indictable offence, theft under $5,000, possession of property obtained by crime, operation while prohibited, fraudulently possessing a credit card, and three counts of possession of a Schedule 1 substance – alleged to include fentanyl, crack cocaine, and psilocybin.
Police say the accused was held for a bail hearing and subsequently remanded into custody.
