A routine traffic stop by Northumberland OPP on Highway 401 in the Township of Hamilton resulted in the seizure of a weapon and multiple charges.
On November 25, 2025, at approximately 12:15 a.m., officers stopped a westbound vehicle after observing it following another car too closely. Further investigation revealed the driver, a 36-year-old man from Orleans, was breaching several release orders. During a search of the vehicle, police discovered an edged weapon.
The man has been charged with unauthorized possession of a weapon and three counts of failing to comply with release orders. He was held for bail and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg.
