Cobourg police say a 32-year-old woman from Warkworth is facing impaired driving charges following a late-night traffic stop in the Town of Cobourg.
Police report that on January 3, 2026, at approximately 11:30 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop on DePalma Drive after observing a vehicle allegedly fail to stop at a red light. During the stop, police made a mandatory alcohol screening demand to assess the driver’s sobriety.
According to police, the driver failed an approved screening device test and was taken into custody as a result of the investigation.
The woman has been charged with operation while impaired, blood alcohol concentration over 80 milligrams. Police say the accused was later released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court at a future date.
Cobourg police continue to remind motorists that impaired driving remains a serious criminal offence and poses a significant risk to public safety. Officers encourage anyone who suspects a driver may be impaired by alcohol or drugs to contact police immediately by calling 9-1-1.
