As heard on Classic Rock 107.9’s Mornings with York, Community Care Northumberland is rolling out the red carpet this winter with the launch of Casino Royale, a new fundraiser designed to support essential services across the county.
The event takes place Thursday, February 12, at the Capitol Theatre in Port Hope, with proceeds helping fund programs such as Meals on Wheels, transportation services, in home supports, wellness programs, and hospice care.
Community Care Northumberland board chair Elaine Azzopardi says the organization’s reach extends far beyond those currently receiving services.
Azzopardi says the Casino Royale concept grew out of attending a similar fundraiser near her family cottage and seeing how a fun, social event could successfully support community programs.
Guests attending Casino Royale can expect casino style games using fun money, live entertainment, food, and a chance to dress up for a winter night out. The Capitol Theatre is serving as venue sponsor, with additional support from the Ryan Huffman Foundation, Butwell Royal Heritage Realty, and OPG.
Community Care Northumberland’s Kristin Andrews says the evening is meant to be accessible, entertaining, and impactful.
Fundraising plays a critical role in sustaining Community Care’s services. Last year, the organization delivered more than 35,000 meals and provided close to 30,000 rides to residents across Northumberland County.
Tickets are $125 and available at commcare.ca.
