The Town of Cobourg and YMCA Northumberland have announced a new partnership aimed at expanding March Break camp experiences for local families.
Through the collaboration, children registered in March Break camps at either the Cobourg Community Centre or the YMCA will have opportunities to visit both facilities. Campers enrolled through the Town will participate in aquatic programming at the YMCA, while YMCA campers will visit the community centre for skating activities.
Organizers say the partnership allows children to enjoy a greater variety of recreational experiences while staying active throughout the March Break period. The shared programming is intended to enhance camp offerings while making use of both facilities.
The initiative builds on a broader working relationship between the Town of Cobourg and YMCA Northumberland. In 2024, the two organizations entered into a memorandum of understanding to explore a potential long-term partnership tied to the development of a future recreation centre in Cobourg. That proposed facility would include aquatic space, fitness areas, multi-purpose rooms, and change facilities to support community growth.
The Cobourg Community Centre’s March Break Camp runs March 16 to 20 for children ages four to ten, with registration opening February ninth. Extended care is available.
YMCA Northumberland’s March Break Camp is offered March 13 and March 16 to 20 for children ages five to twelve, with extended care options and registration currently open.
Both camps are designed to provide safe, engaging programs for children during the school break.
