United Way Northumberland has announced a new partnership with Vandermeer Toyota aimed at strengthening school nutrition programs across Northumberland County.
Throughout the month of February, Vandermeer Toyota will contribute $50 from every vehicle sold to support the United Way Northumberland School Nutrition Program. The dealership has also committed to matching the total funds raised, up to a maximum of $5,000, increasing the overall impact of the campaign.
The School Nutrition Program helps provide food and essential equipment for breakfast and snack programs in local schools. These programs are designed to support student learning by ensuring children start their school day with proper nutrition, which research shows can improve focus, attendance, and academic performance.
Funds raised through the February initiative will directly support breakfast programs operating in schools across the county, helping meet growing needs as food costs continue to rise.
United Way Northumberland says school nutrition is a key part of its work supporting children and youth, emphasizing that access to reliable, nutritious food plays a foundational role in long-term success both inside and outside the classroom.
The campaign will be promoted throughout February and reflects a broader effort to strengthen community partnerships that address local needs. Community members are encouraged to follow the campaign’s progress and support initiatives that help ensure students are ready to learn each day.
