An icy dip in Lake Ontario will once again help warm hearts across the region.
The annual Polar Plunge, organized by the Cobourg Police Service and Port Hope Police Service, returns to the Cobourg Marina on Sunday, March 22 in support of Special Olympics Ontario.
Plungers, sponsors, volunteers and spectators are all invited, with early registration opening at 9:30 a.m. and the first jump set for 11.
Cobourg Constable Jocelyn Hilts says organizers want participation from every corner of the community.
The event follows a national conference that brought together officers as well as athletes and their families from across Canada, offering a reminder of why the fundraising matters.
Port Hope Constable Tammie Staples says the voices of families leave a lasting impact.
Beyond the jump itself, participants can expect warming stations, indoor access through marina partners, and donated snacks for those braving the cold.
Organizers say signing up online helps volunteers prepare and ensures more dollars flow directly to athlete programming.
And for anyone hesitating, Staples and Hilts have this message.
