The Town of Cobourg is reminding property owners that the first interim property tax installment is due Friday, February 27, 2026.
A second interim installment will be due April 30. February tax bills were mailed last week.
The Town notes that the February and April installments are based on 50 percent of the previous year’s total tax bill, with no increase reflected at this time. Following approval of the County and education budgets, the Finance Department will recalculate the 2026 levy adjustments. Updated amounts will be communicated to property owners with the April bill. Final installments are expected at the end of June and September.
Property taxes in Cobourg are made up of three components: the municipal levy set by the Town, the County levy set by Northumberland County, and the education levy set by the Province of Ontario.
The Town approved its 2026 municipal budget in December 2025, which includes a 2.74 percent net increase after accounting for one percent assessment growth and a one percent infrastructure levy.
Pre authorized payment plans are available. Residents can learn more or enroll at Cobourg.ca/taxes. The Town is also encouraging residents to sign up for eBilling services online or by calling 905 372 8944.
