Port Hope Police have charged a 32-year-old Port Hope man following an early morning assault investigation.
Officers were dispatched to a residence on Phillips Road at approximately 2:45 a.m. February 19 after receiving a report of an assault in progress. Upon arrival, police say they located an individual being assaulted and intervened immediately.
During the arrest, police allege the accused became combative with officers. One officer sustained an injury and required medical attention.
As a result of the investigation, the accused has been charged with assault spousal, assault peace officer causing bodily harm, assault peace officer, two counts of uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm, possession of a Schedule I substance cocaine, and two counts of failing to comply with a probation order.
Police say the accused was held in custody pending a show cause hearing.
