Port Hope council has scheduled a special meeting to receive additional information regarding the Garden Hill Dam environmental assessment.
The Special Council Meeting will take place Tuesday, February 24, 2026 at 5 p.m. in council chambers at Town Hall, located at 56 Queen Street in Port Hope.
The meeting follows discussion at the February 3 Committee of the Whole session, where council considered Staff Report WE-01-26 related to the Garden Hill Dam environmental assessment. At that time, councillors directed staff to invite representatives from the Ganaraska Region Conservation Authority and the County of Northumberland to provide further details before the end of February.
During the February 24 meeting, council members will receive formal presentations from both GRCA and county representatives. The additional information is expected to help inform council’s understanding of the environmental assessment process and next steps.
Delegations will be permitted at the special meeting, giving residents and stakeholders an opportunity to speak directly to council. Those wishing to participate are encouraged to review delegation guidelines and register in advance through the municipality.
The session is open to the public, and residents can attend in person at Town Hall. The meeting will also be live streamed on the Municipality of Port Hope’s official YouTube channel for those who prefer to watch remotely.
Anyone with questions is encouraged to contact the Legislative Services office at the Municipality of Port Hope.
