Northumberland County has secured more than $2.4 million in external grant funding in 2025, supporting a range of priorities from affordable housing to emergency preparedness, say officials.
According to the county’s 2025 grant funding report, 14 applications were approved between Jan. 1 and Dec. 31, generating a total investment of $2,377,220.14. An additional six applications were unsuccessful, while 10 applications representing $14.2 million in potential funding remain under review heading into 2026.
Federal funding accounted for the largest share, with $1,786,989.57 secured. The province contributed $268,800, while foundations and corporate partners provided $96,505.57, according to the report.
The county also supported community partner applications, which secured an additional $224,925 in federal funding, said officials.
A key highlight of the year was $1.6 million from Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation to repair and renew 333 units of affordable housing across Northumberland. The investment supports the county’s ongoing efforts to maintain and modernize housing stock for residents in need.
Other approved projects supported homelessness and food security initiatives, community paramedicine, long-term care workforce development, emergency preparedness infrastructure, environmental restoration, mental health supports for public safety personnel and cultural programming.
County officials said the results reflect a continued emphasis on strong partnerships, measurable outcomes and competitive grant submissions.
With more than $14 million in applications still under review, Northumberland County said it will continue pursuing funding opportunities to advance strategic priorities and strengthen services for residents.
