A 20-year-old Castleton resident is facing charges after a Quinte West OPP impaired driving investigation, say police.
According to OPP, their investigation was initiated after a traffic stop in the Dundas Street West area at about 2 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 22, 2026.
As a result of the investigation, police said the 20-year-old was charged with failure to stop at a red light, operation while impaired – alcohol, operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus) and driving with open liquor.
None of these charges have been proven in court.
The accused was released from custody and will appear in Belleville court on April 9, 2026, reported OPP.
The accused also had their licence suspended for 90 days, and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
OPP continues to ask residents to report suspected impaired driving by calling 911.
