Port Hope’s flagship festivals are once again being recognized among the best in the province.
For the fourth consecutive year, the Municipality of Port Hope’s Candlelight Festival and Arts Festival have been named to Festivals & Events Ontario’s 2026 Top 100 Festivals and Events list.
The annual distinction evaluates events based on criteria including community impact, originality, economic benefits and overall popularity. Being included on the list recognizes festivals as leaders within Ontario’s event industry.
Mayor Olena Hankivsky says the continued recognition highlights the strength, creativity and teamwork behind Port Hope’s local celebrations.
Submissions for the 2026 list were received in the fall of 2025 and reviewed by an independent panel of judges. The selection process included a wide range of festivals from across Ontario, representing both local community gatherings and internationally recognized events.
The Port Hope Arts Festival will return on Saturday, August 8, 2026, showcasing artists, performers and vendors throughout the downtown core.
The Candlelight Festival will follow later in the year, kicking off with the popular Candlelight Walk on Friday, November 27, 2026. The festival traditionally features holiday programming, live entertainment and seasonal attractions that draw residents and visitors alike.
Municipal officials say the continued Top 100 recognition reinforces Port Hope’s reputation as a destination for high quality community events.
More information on upcoming events is available on the Municipality’s website.
