A sweet fundraiser has returned to support residents across Northumberland who rely on Community Care Northumberland’s Meals on Wheels program.
CCN’s popular annual Easter Cookie fundraiser is officially underway and means people can indulge in a sweet treat and make a real difference.
Every order placed helps ensure local residents – including seniors, adults with disabilities and people recovering from illness or surgery as just a few examples – will continue to get nutritious, affordable meals delivered right to their doors, explains CCN CEO Jordan Prosper.
But the Meals on Wheels program also does more than just help people with food, notes CCN’s CEO.
In other words, Meals on Wheels clients also benefit through connection and companionship with volunteers delivering meals – and their visits can serve as a wellness check, too.
Beyond this, the program also has longer-term benefits across the region by ultimately helping people to maintain their independence and seniors to live at home safely and longer, explains Prosper.
Every year, CCN co-ordinates a massive number of these meal deliveries for about 600 CCN clients, and demand for help isn’t going down, notes Prosper.
CCN’s Easter Cookie fundraiser will help address some of this demand.
And it’s a simple initiative: Order some Easter-themed cookies crafted by Roda’s Kitchen by March 27.
“It’s fundraisers like this that help ensure we continue to meet that increasing demand and reach more people who need it now more than ever.”
If you’re wondering just how much of a difference you can make by simply treating yourself to some cookies, Prosper says last year’s fundraiser had a huge impact.
The fundraiser offers several options:
The $20 bundle: Features five Easter-decorated shortbread cookies.
The $25 bundle: Features five gluten-free cookies – again, all Easter-themed.
The $100 bundle: Features 26 shortbread cookies for the ultimate treat to share with friends, family or co-workers. (Note: This option isn’t available gluten-free.)
Orders must be placed by March 27 and will be available for pickup on April 1 and 2 between 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. at CCN locations in Campbellford, Cobourg and Brighton. To place your order, visit CCN’s website.
Residents with questions can also contact CCN at 905-375-7188 or by emailing k.andrews@commcare.ca.
“We are grateful to everyone who purchases cookies, spreads the word and supports this important program,” adds Prosper.
