The CAA Worst Roads Campaign is back for its 23rd year, giving Ontario drivers a chance to highlight roads in need of repair and a familiar road close to home continues to stand out.
That would be County Road 49 in nearby Prince Edward County which was ranked as the third worst road in Ontario this go round, appearing on the list seven times and long known for potholes and safety concerns.
But the province says, there is some relief on the way. The Ontario government announced March 19 it will provide funding to rehabilitate the 18.4 kilometre stretch between Picton and the Bay of Quinte Skyway Bridge, with repairs and upgrades planned.
CAA government relations consultant Brian Pirvu says the public call-out of Ontario’s worst roads has helped drive change.
Aside from being uncomfortable to drive on, poor road conditions and potholes can also lead to a number of issues for your vehicle, including tire and rim damage, along with suspension problems and alignment issues.
Pirvu adds that a road being in poor condition is about more than just ride comfort.
He says while most responses come from drivers, the campaign is open to everyone.
In 2025, Aberdeen Road in Hamilton ranked as the worst road in Ontario, with regional lists across the province highlighting 50 roads in need of repair.
Voting for this year’s campaign is now open, with residents encouraged to nominate roads they believe need attention including those closer to home.
