Port Hope Police say two individuals are facing charges following separate incidents on Saturday, March 21.
Police say officers were first called in the early morning hours to a residence in Port Hope for an intimate partner violence incident. According to police, a male victim had been assaulted.
As a result of the investigation, a 23 year old woman from Port Hope was arrested and charged with assault. She is scheduled to appear in court in May.
Later that same day, officers responded to a report of a possible impaired driver in the parking lot of Pineview Plaza on Toronto Road.
Police say they located a vehicle with a male driver and two female occupants who were unresponsive. Following an investigation, officers determined the driver was impaired by drugs, which was confirmed through a Drug Recognition Officer evaluation.
Police also say a controlled substance was located during the investigation.
A 49 year old man from Collingwood has been charged with operation while impaired by drugs and possession of a controlled substance. He is also scheduled to appear in court in May.
Port Hope Police continue to remind the public to report suspected impaired drivers by calling 9 1 1.
