Cobourg police say they are investigating an attempted break and enter at a gas bar that may be connected to similar incidents in neighbouring communities.
Police say officers were called to a business on Elgin Street West around 1:50 a.m. on March 30 after a glass break alarm was triggered. When officers arrived, they found the front glass door had been smashed.
Investigators say surveillance video shows three male suspects arriving at the scene in a black Ford F150 shortly before the alarm was activated. The suspects allegedly used a tool in an attempt to break in to the business but were unsuccessful and fled the area in the same vehicle.
Cobourg police say circumstances are similar to other recent incidents.
The Port Hope Police Service and Northumberland OPP have also issued releases on recent break-and-enter investigations, both citing three suspects and a black pickup truck. However, none of the services have specifically said the incidents are connected.
Cobourg police are asking anyone who may have information or surveillance or dash cam footage from the area around the time of the incident, to come forward to CPS or submit an anonymous tip through Crime Stoppers.
