All tenants displaced by a fire at 8 King St. E. in Colborne now have housing plans in place, say Northumberland County officials.
During a recent update at Northumberland County’s social services committee, Rebecca Snelgrove, associate director of housing and homelessness, explained that residents are transitioning into temporary or permanent accommodations, with the final household expected to be relocated within days.
The response has involved co-ordination across multiple agencies, along with significant community support.
Donations were also organized and distributed through local partners, helping residents replace essential items lost in the fire.
Municipal leaders say the outcome reflects strong collaboration during a challenging situation.
Officials say housing staff, emergency responders and community members all contributed to ensuring displaced residents were supported and rehoused as quickly as possible.
The county says work continues on longer-term recovery efforts, including cleanup and planning for the future of the property.
