The Town of Cobourg is advising residents of upcoming road, pedestrian, and parking lot closures as preparations begin for the annual marina boat lift and hauling operations.
Closures will begin on Wednesday, April 29 and continue through the lifting and hauling schedule, which runs from April 30 to May 3. Hauling operations are set for April 30 and May 1, followed by the spring boat lift on May 2 and May 3.
Municipal officials say the closures are necessary to ensure safety as heavy equipment is used throughout the marina area. Both vehicle and pedestrian access will be restricted at times, with staff working to reopen pathways when it is safe to do so between operations.
Areas affected include the Cobourg Marina parking lot, Division Street south of the Esplanade, and sections of the Esplanade itself. Hibernia Street south of Third Street and Third Street between Hibernia Street and the Esplanade will remain open but are expected to experience delays.
Residents and visitors are encouraged to plan ahead and allow extra travel time when moving through the waterfront area during this period.
The Town says these annual operations are an important part of preparing the marina for the boating season, while prioritizing safety for workers and the public.
