The New Canadians Centre is inviting the community to celebrate the opening of its relocated Northumberland office in Cobourg.
The organization has moved into a shared space at Watton Employment Services, located at 9 Elgin Street. Officials say co locating services will make it easier for newcomers to access both settlement and employment supports in one place.
To mark the move, a drop in open house is planned for Wednesday, April 15 from 4:30 to 6 p.m. The event will include tours of the new space, opportunities to meet staff and community partners, and brief remarks followed by a cake cutting around 4:45 p.m.
The New Canadians Centre provides services to newcomers and community members across Northumberland County, helping connect individuals to resources related to employment, settlement, and community integration.
Organizers say the new shared location is intended to strengthen referrals between agencies and improve access to services for clients navigating multiple supports.
The organization is also using the event to encourage community involvement. A call for volunteers is underway, with opportunities to support newcomers through English conversation and community connection. A volunteer information session is scheduled for April 16.
Residents are welcome to attend the open house without registration, though organizers say signing up in advance can help with planning.
