Northumberland Hills Hospital Foundation has been selected as a local recipient of proceeds from this year’s Smile Cookie campaign, with funds set to support emergency department equipment at the hospital.
The annual campaign, run through participating Tim Hortons locations, transforms classic chocolate chunk cookies into hand-decorated Smile Cookies, with proceeds directed to local charities. In Northumberland County, cookies sold at ten locations in Cobourg, Port Hope, and Colborne will benefit the hospital foundation.
Officials say funds raised during the campaign will be used to purchase medical equipment for the emergency department, helping support patient care close to home.
Smile Cookie Week is scheduled to run from April 27 to May 3, with community members encouraged to take part by purchasing cookies or placing bulk orders.
Volunteer support is also a key part of the campaign. The foundation is seeking volunteers to assist with decorating cookies at participating restaurants throughout the week. Shifts are expected to run daily during the campaign, with volunteers required to be at least 14 years old, and those under 18 needing permission from a parent or guardian.
The Smile Cookie campaign has become a well-known community fundraiser, bringing together local businesses, volunteers, and residents in support of healthcare initiatives.
More information, including participating locations and volunteer opportunities, is available through the Northumberland Hills Hospital Foundation website.
