Residents across several southern Ontario communities are being encouraged to take advantage of a limited-time rain barrel sale aimed at promoting water conservation and watershed protection.
Discounted rain barrels are now available for residents in the Township of Hamilton, the Town of Cobourg, the Municipality of Port Hope and the Municipality of Clarington, all within the Ganaraska Region Conservation Authority (GRCA) jurisdiction.
The sale runs until June 1, with barrels delivered directly to purchasers. Officials say pricing includes a $25 discount per barrel, with a limit of four per household.
The initiative is supported by local municipal partners, including the Township of Hamilton Environment and Climate Advisory Committee, Lakefront Utility Services Inc., and participating municipalities, in partnership with the Ganaraska Region Conservation Authority.
Organizers say the program encourages residents to reduce municipal water demand by collecting and reusing rainwater for gardens and outdoor use.
Residents are also being directed to conservation resources that promote broader watershed protection efforts, including tree planting and water efficiency initiatives.
