A Brighton resident is facing charges after a two-vehicle wreck downtown back in late April.
Northumberland OPP said on April 28, 2026, at about 6 p.m., police responded to a crash on Main Street in Brighton.
No injuries were reported in the collision, which involved a pick-up truck and passenger vehicle.
After speaking with one of the motorists involved, OPP has now confirmed an impaired driving investigation was initiated, resulting in one person charged.
The accused 51-year-old Brighton resident was charged with operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs, and operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus.)
The accused also had their licence suspended for 90 days, and the vehicle impounded for seven days.
Police continue to ask citizens to report suspected impaired driving by calling 911.
