The Town of Cobourg is rolling out updated parking regulations ahead of the busy summer season, with changes affecting downtown, waterfront, overnight, and permit parking.
Municipal officials say parking will now operate under two seasonal categories: High Season from May 15 to September 14, and Low Season from September 15 to May 14. Parking enforcement will continue around the clock, seven days a week.
Downtown parking will remain free for the first three hours throughout the year. After that, parking will cost $2.50 per hour for both on street spaces and municipal lots.
The biggest changes impact waterfront parking.
During the Low Season, waterfront lots and waterfront street parking will be free for the first three hours before rates increase to $2.50 per hour or $20 per day.
However, during High Season, waterfront parking will remain at $5 per hour or $40 per day, with no free parking period.
The town is also offering several parking permit options for residents, county residents, downtown business employees, visitors, and overnight parking users.
Cobourg resident permits are priced at $10 per month and include downtown and waterfront parking access, along with overnight downtown parking privileges.
Officials say payment for parking can be made through parking meters, pay and display machines, or the HONK mobile app.
Updated parking maps and brochures will be available at municipal buildings, including Victoria Hall and the Cobourg Community Centre, beginning May 14.
Additional information and permit details are available through the Town of Cobourg parking website.
