The Town of Cobourg is offering extended office hours next week to help residents interested in participating in the 2026 municipal election.
Municipal Clerk Brent Larmer says the additional evening hours are intended to answer election related questions and provide extra opportunities for candidates to file nomination papers ahead of this fall’s vote.
The extended office hours will take place in the Legislative Services office at Victoria Hall on June 2, 3, and 4 from 5 until 8 p.m.
Town officials say residents considering a run for mayor, deputy mayor, councillor, or school board trustee positions are encouraged to attend if they have questions about the nomination process or election requirements.
Anyone planning to officially file nomination papers during the extended office hours is being asked to book an appointment through the Town’s online scheduling platform.
The sessions come as Cobourg’s 2026 municipal election field slowly begins taking shape with several current members of council and first time candidates already filing nomination papers or publicly signalling intentions to run.
Nomination papers can be filed until August 21 at 2 p.m., with the certified list of candidates expected later that month.
Cobourg residents will head to the polls October 26.
The Town says candidate information packages, election details, nomination requirements, and online booking information are all available through the Cobourg Votes website.
Residents with additional questions can also contact the Legislative Services office directly by phone or email.
