The Cobourg Public Library is heading into summer with a full slate of programs designed to encourage reading, learning and community connection for residents of all ages.
The library’s Rachel Spence says June is one of the busiest months of the year, with new initiatives aimed at children, teens and adults.
The TD Summer Reading Club kicks off June 26 and features an underwater theme, while teens can participate in a summer reading challenge that rewards library use throughout the season. Adults can take part in a new Summer Reading Challenge Bingo program, with monthly prizes available throughout June, July and August.
The library is also introducing a new mobile app.
The app allows users to search the catalogue, place holds, manage accounts, access a digital library card and choose pickup locations across the library system.
For older adults, the popular Boomers series continues through June before taking a summer break.
Spence says the sessions provide opportunities to learn about health, wellness and community initiatives while connecting with other residents.
The library is also launching its first-ever CPL Readers Club on June 15, giving avid readers an opportunity to discover new books and discuss popular summer reads.
Spence says the library’s evolving lineup reflects its role as a community gathering space where people can learn, connect, spend time together and, of course, discover their next great read.
