Northumberland OPP laid impaired driving charges against four people in separate incidents across the county between June 5 and June 8.
The first investigation began shortly after 9 p.m. on June 5 when police received a report of a vehicle in a ditch on Lakeport Road in Alnwick/Haldimand Township. Officers say the lone occupant was uninjured, but an impaired driving investigation was launched, resulting in charges against a Colborne resident.
On June 7, police responded to multiple traffic complaints regarding a pickup truck travelling eastbound on Highway 401 in Port Hope. OPP allege the vehicle was unable to maintain its lane and was operating with its hazard lights activated. Following a traffic stop, a Thornbury resident was charged with impaired driving-related offences.
Later that evening, emergency crews responded to a single-vehicle collision involving a hydro pole on Shearer Point Road in Alnwick/Haldimand Township. Police say the driver suffered non-life-threatening injuries. An Oshawa resident was subsequently charged.
The fourth impaired driving investigation occurred June 8 when officers conducting patrols in Trent Hills stopped to check on a motorist parked on the shoulder of Concession Road 8 West. A Trent Hills resident was later charged.
In each case, OPP issued a 90-day administrative driver’s licence suspension and a seven-day vehicle impoundment.
The same OPP media release also outlined two unrelated investigations.
A Campbellford resident faces an obstruct peace officer charge following a single-vehicle collision on Trent River Road in Trent Hills where the occupants allegedly left the scene before emergency crews arrived.
Meanwhile, a Trent Hills resident has been charged with theft under $5,000 following an investigation into electronic items that were allegedly not returned to their owner.
All accused are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg in the coming weeks.
