For years, York Bell-Smith has been a familiar voice across Northumberland County.
He’s promoted local businesses, supported community organizations, emceed fundraisers, hosted events and helped keep listeners informed about the people and stories shaping the community. Tomorrow, the spotlight turns to York as friends, listeners and colleagues gather to celebrate his 60th birthday.
Classic Rock 107.9 will broadcast live tomorrow from Arthur’s Pub at the Best Western Plus Cobourg from 6:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., inviting listeners to stop by, share memories and wish York a happy birthday. Family members, community leaders, local dignitaries and longtime friends are expected to take part in the celebration.
Vice-President of Programming Rob Mise says the morning will include plenty of surprises.
Mise says York’s deep knowledge of Northumberland has always impressed those who work with him.
The celebration is being supported by Thomas Buick GMC, Stadtke Plumbing & Heating, Fraser Ford, Cobourg Home Hardware Building Centre, Cucina Urbana, the Rotary Club of Cobourg, John Greenlee – The Mortgage Centre, YMCA Northumberland, Community Care Northumberland and Rosewood Estates.
Listeners are encouraged to drop by Arthur’s Pub tomorrow morning, share a story, enjoy the atmosphere and help celebrate someone affectionately known by many as “Mr. Northumberland.”
As Mise put it, the event is really about showing York the appreciation he has earned after years of supporting the community and the people who call it home.
