Port Hope Hyundai has released a public statement in response to concerns circulating on social media regarding a former employee.
In the statement, issued June 17, the dealership says it recently became aware of allegations involving the former employee and expressed support for those affected by the situation.
“First and foremost, our thoughts are with the people and families who have been affected by this situation,” the statement reads.
The dealership says it was not aware of the allegations during the individual’s employment and confirmed the person is no longer employed by the business and will not be returning in any capacity.
Port Hope Hyundai also stated that the former employee’s profile remained on the dealership’s website due to what it described as an administrative oversight. The dealership says steps have since been taken to remove it.
The statement further notes that Port Hope Hyundai does not condone behaviour that compromises the safety, dignity or well-being of others and remains committed to maintaining a safe and respectful environment for employees and customers.
Because the matter is before the courts, the dealership says it will not be providing further comment.
The statement follows a social media post raising concerns about an individual who was previously employed by the dealership.
Northumberland Daily has not independently verified the allegations discussed online.
Based on information currently available, the matter appears to be connected to an ongoing investigation dating back to September. Northumberland Daily has reached out to Cobourg police for comment and clarification regarding the status of the case and will provide updates as more information becomes available.
