Port Hope police are reporting several recent investigations, including an assault charge, a collision, a warrant arrest and a reported weapons call that was later determined not to involve a firearm.
Police say officers responded to an assault report on June 21 at approximately 7:45 p.m. after a victim reported being punched in the stomach by someone known to them while outside a Port Hope residence.
The accused left the area before officers arrived. Police say the person was located the following day, arrested without incident and charged with assault. They were released on an undertaking with a future court date.
On June 23, a Port Hope police officer also located and arrested a person wanted on an outstanding warrant held by the Cobourg Police Service. The individual was arrested without incident and turned over to Cobourg police.
That same day, officers responded to a possible weapons incident at a construction site. Police say the call was initially believed to involve a firearm, but investigators later determined it was a workplace dispute between co-workers. No firearm was involved, no one was injured and no charges were laid.
Police also responded to a single-vehicle collision on June 22 at approximately 7:55 p.m.
Investigators say a driver struck a hydro pole, causing significant damage to the vehicle and the pole. No injuries were reported.
A Toronto resident was charged with careless driving, and hydro crews attended to replace the damaged pole.
