Cobourg Police are investigating the theft of a vehicle from a residential neighbourhood and are asking the public to help identify those responsible.
Police say a blue Nissan Kicks was stolen from a residence on Densmore Road. Investigators believe the vehicle was taken on Saturday, June 20, although the theft was not reported until June 22.
Officers are asking anyone who may have witnessed suspicious activity in the area or who has dashcam or home security camera footage to contact the Cobourg Police Service. Anonymous tips can also be submitted through Crime Stoppers.
The investigation remains ongoing.
Police are also reminding residents to take simple precautions that can help reduce the risk of vehicle theft.
Those include never leaving keys or key fobs inside a vehicle, always locking doors and closing windows, even when parked at home, and parking in well-lit areas whenever possible.
Investigators also recommend using home security cameras or motion-activated lighting to deter thieves, storing spare keys securely rather than hiding them in or near a vehicle, and keeping key fobs in signal-blocking pouches or boxes to help prevent relay theft.
Anyone with information related to the theft is asked to contact the Cobourg Police Service or Crime Stoppers.
