Ontario is creating a new digital licensing system designed to make it easier for anglers and hunters to purchase licences and manage their outdoor activities.
The province announced FishHuntON will launch in early 2027, providing approximately 1.5 million Outdoors Card holders with a new mobile app and expanded digital services while continuing to offer existing online and in person licensing options.
The free app will allow users to purchase and renew fishing and hunting products, securely store digital licences and tags that can be accessed even without cellular service, submit hunter accreditation documents electronically and complete mandatory hunter reports more easily.
The province says FishHuntON will continue to support the sale of Ontario Outdoors Cards, licences, tags and big game draw applications through participating ServiceOntario locations and private licence issuers for those who prefer traditional service channels.
According to the province, Ontario’s current licensing system processes about 1.3 million transactions each year for more than two million fish and wildlife product purchases.
Fishing and hunting contribute an estimated $3.37 billion annually to Ontario’s resource based economy, while licensing sales generated approximately $65 million in 2024 and 2025. The province says that revenue supports fish and wildlife conservation programs, including stocking, scientific research, enforcement and public education.
The new system will also include a digital compliance tool for conservation officers to help enforce Ontario’s fishing and hunting regulations and protect fish and wildlife populations.
FishHuntON is expected to be available in early 2027, with the province promising additional information before the launch.
