Two Cobourg men are facing charges following a Cobourg Police Service investigation into the theft of copper wire from a local business.
Police say the investigation began after a theft was reported on June 6 at a business in the area of D’Arcy Street.
Surveillance footage allegedly showed a group of individuals using bolt cutters to remove multiple sections of copper wire from the property at about 3:20 a.m.
As a result of the investigation, police arrested two Cobourg men on July 1.
Both men are charged with mischief, theft over $5,000, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 and failing to comply with a probation order.
Police say one of the accused also faces an additional charge of possession of a Schedule I substance, methamphetamine.
One accused was released with a future court date, while the other was held for a bail hearing before also being released.
The charges have not been proven in court.
