Cobourg police are investigating after a memorial sculpture at Chris Garrett Memorial Park was vandalized.
Police say they were notified on July 13 that the Hero’s Flight sculpture, located along Birchwood Trail, had been defaced with graffiti.
At this point, investigators say it is not known when the vandalism occurred.
The Cobourg Police Service is working with the Town of Cobourg to have the graffiti removed while the investigation continues.
Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed suspicious activity in the area, or who may have security camera or dash camera footage that could assist investigators, to come forward.

The Hero’s Flight sculpture serves as a place of remembrance within Chris Garrett Memorial Park, making the incident particularly disappointing for many in the community.
The investigation remains ongoing.
