Great Blue Resorts says it is mourning the loss of an employee who died following Wednesday’s propane explosion at Bellmere Winds Golf Resort.
In a statement released Thursday, the company said the team member died from injuries sustained during the incident and extended its condolences to the employee’s family, friends and colleagues.
“The loss of our team member is deeply felt by all who had the privilege of working alongside them,” the statement reads.
The company says it is supporting staff and the Bellmere Winds community during the tragedy and is asking that the family be given privacy as they grieve.
Counselling services are being offered at Bellmere Winds Golf Resort today and Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. for employees and property owners seeking support.
Great Blue Resorts also thanked emergency crews and first responders who attended the scene and said it continues to cooperate fully with investigators.
Peterborough County OPP confirmed Thursday that the victim, a 63-year-old man from Warkworth, died in hospital after Wednesday afternoon’s propane explosion in a residential trailer on the resort property. The cause of the explosion remains under investigation.
