The 2026 Northumberland Ball has raised $25,500 in support of the Maternal Child Care Unit at Northumberland Hills Hospital.
This year’s event, themed “A Night in Emerald City,” was held July 10 at the Best Western Plus Cobourg Inn and Convention Centre and featured an evening of entertainment, dancing and activities for children and their families.
Heather Brown, speaking on behalf of the organizing committee, said the cause carries special meaning for her and many other local families.
“As a mother of three children, all of whom were born at NHH, supporting the Maternal Child Care Unit is a cause that is incredibly close to my heart,” Brown said.
Brown joined Katie and Jenna Traugott, Julie Powell and Carly Wardle on this year’s organizing committee, which included both returning and new volunteers.
“It was an honour to join Katie and Jenna Traugott in expanding the committee this year,” Brown said. “We hope every family left with memories they’ll treasure for years to come, while knowing their attendance has helped support local healthcare for future generations.”
Courtney Ker, manager of community giving for the NHH Foundation, said events such as the Northumberland Ball help fund essential equipment and technology at the hospital.
“This event goes beyond one evening of family fun, its impact will make a lasting difference for patients of the Maternal Child Care Unit for years to come,” Ker said.
